Our History
Florida Water Gardens, Inc. was established in October of 1988 as a wholesale landscape supply company named Joseph Brothers Landscaping Supplies and
for over 20 years has been servicing Central Florida. In 1998 the company
splashed into the water gardening industry with a new water gardening
department named Roy's Kois. Roy's Kois rapidly became one o the Top 3
companies for the largest water gardening equipment manufacturers. As the
water gardening department grew so did the types of water features that were
being installed. What started out as department building backyard water garden
ponds known as Roy's Kois has evolved into today's Florida Water Gardens, Inc.
a company that consults, designs and builds all types of water features including
water garden ponds, traditional koi ponds, hybrid koi ponds, disappearing
pondless vanishing NO-Pond™ Waterfalls, water illusions, hand-carved concrete
waterfalls & theme park features and most any other custom feature related to
water movement. Florida Water Gardens, Inc. is involved in many national
events within the Water Garden Industry and is considered as one of the most
innovative water feature companies in the industry for their creative designs and
construction methodologies.
Awards
Florida Water Gardens, Inc. has been named a national Top 11 Company in the
industry, has been named a national Top 20 Certified Aquascape Contractor by a
leading industry manufacturer and received their national Top 20 Frog Award.
The Orlando Home Builders named Florida Water Gardens, Inc. a Top 25
Contractor in the Central Florida Region and also received the Top Gun Award
from the International Pond Contractors Association (I.P.P.C.A.).
In 2005, The PondmanTM and his crew were the winners of the 1st World Wide
Waterfall Building Competition with all three entries finishing in the Top 5, two in
the Top 3 and then winning the overall event. As winners of the event, Florida
Water Gardens led a national team of contractors in the building of a pond for a
non-profit charity event that was held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina dubbed
Ponditat For Humanity. The Florida Water Gardens crew had the prestigious
honor of building the waterfalls for this event and earning them the Top Gun
Award.

Certifications
Freddie Combas, owner of Florida Water Gardens, Inc. and known in the water
garden industry as The Pondman™ is a founding member and presides on the
Board of Directors of the I.L.A. (Int’l. Landscape Alliance), a water garden
industry contractor coalition group. Freddie is also a founding member and
Board of Advisor member of the I.P.P.C.A. (International Professional Pond
Contractors Association) an international non-profit industry association
dedicated to the education of business ethics and responsibilities, developing
industry standards and to the elevation of environmental, biological and
construction knowledge of industry contractors by exposing them to industry-wide
construction equipment technologies and building methodologies through a
stringent Certification Program which is considered to be the hardest exam in the
industry. As an aquascape contractor Florida Water Gardens is one of less than
50 I.P.P.C.A. Certified Professional Pond Contractors in the nation and was the
second in the nation to receive the certification in pond liner installation by
Firestone Specialty Products Company, the world’s largest manufacturer of pond
liner.

Qualifications
The Pondman™ has been asked to give educational seminars at Pond Trade
Conventions & Events throughout the country such as PONDAPALOOZA™
(Pennsylvania & Georgia), INFO-TANZA™ (Georgia) and Pondemonium™
(Illinois). He has also been asked to give input to aid in the design of filtration
equipment and systems for manufacturers such as American Ponds, Aquascapes, Atlantic Water Gardens, Crystal Ponds, PondBuilder and others.
Freddie is also the host of the live call-in weekly talk show "The Florida Homes &
Gardens Show" where he assists pond owners with answers to their pond
questions and with help to their pond problems.
Informational articles written by Freddie can often be found in Ponds Magazine,
PondsUSA Magazine, Koi World Magazine and PondKeeper Magazine along
with other publications. Florida Water Gardens has been featured in both trade
and newsstand publications such as Aquascaper, The Pond Pulse, PondKeeper,
Home Renovation, Florida Design and Orlando Magazine. Panache Partners is
a national publisher of upscale coffee table books such as Dream Homes of >
Florida, Dream Homes of Colorado Spectacular Homes of Chicago and many
more. Panache has elected to feature Florida Water Gardens in their upcoming
coffee table book Perspectives On Design that will be available nationally in
March of 2008 at Barnes&Nobles, Borders and other bookstores.
In the spring of 2003, Florida Water Gardens participated with a team of Certified
Aquascape Contractor members to build two water features, a water garden and
a pondless waterfall display, for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Show
at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Some of other world-known
customers include Wet-N-Wild, The World Marriott Resort & Spa, The Westin
Golf Resort & Spa (Savannah, Georgia), Quality Inn Hotels, The Resort at Cocoa
Beach and many more world-class water features have been designed and
installed by our crew.

Our Future...
Florida Water Gardens is recognized as always striving to be a leader in the
development of new products and equipment for the water garden and koi pond
industry. It is with this commitment to progress and quality that in 2008 Florida
Water Gardens will be bringing to market our own line of cutting edge products
and equipment under the name of PondmanUSA™ Pond Products. The new
line of products & filtration equipment by PondmanUSA™ Pond Products were
designed to create new methodologies of filtration for the water garden pond and
koi pond industry, both for the hobbyist and the professional. In 2009 a
specialized line of PondmanUSA™ Pond Products filtration systems will also
be available for the wastewater, large earthen ponds and golf course industries.
